What a way to introduce baby to good design :). We purchased this mobile 3 years ago when our first was born. We weren't into the whole saccharinely sweet stuffed animal, battery operated mobiles sold at retailers. This mobile did not disappoint. It is tastefully simple and very peaceful to watch. My oldest still sits and watches it. It's very lightweight and can be hung virtually anywhere. Ours is above the crib but it could be hung above the changing table, play area, even above the kitchen table (our purchase came with a mini elephant mobile that we hung from the chandelier in the dinette). All you need is a small ceiling hook to hang it. It comes with a floss-like string and cardboard eye.

When I opened the box and saw the mobile I thought: Wow, that's a lot of money for a simple cutout! But it is simply beautiful. We hang it in the nursery over the crib. The elephants are actually larger than I thought (each is about 7.4" wide and 6" tall) so we centered it over the crib. Our baby boy is not born yet (I am due in 2 days) I am sure he will be able to enjoy it for a long time, as it is pretty high and there won't be a danger of him pulling on it. I love just sitting in the glider watching it. I have the fan on and the elephants are really dancing!

I do have to say that the blue in the picture is quite a bit lighter and brighter (at least on my monitor) compared to the real thing, which is more of a dark, almost navy blue. It's probably a lighting issue of the photograph, though.
